Fall & Spring Term Classes for 6th-12th Graders: 10:15-11:00 a.m.

During the fall and spring terms, there are three Sunday morning classes for youth during the education hour.

A Senior Seminar class, for grades 10-12, will be taught by Cap Pinkham and Noell & Gary Wilson, in Room 301. This class will explore the question, "Who Is This Guy?" (Jesus, that is.)

J2A (Journey to Adulthood), for grades 8-9, will be taught by the Rev. Eyleen Farmer, Sybil MacBeth, Scott McDermott, and Bob O'Connor, in Room 302.

Rite-13 (part of the Journey to Adulthood program), for grades 6-7, will be taught by Tim DiScenza, Brett Norman, Sharon Thorpe, and Kathy Williams, in the Bethlehem Chapel.

Journey to Adulthood is a complete youth ministry program of spiritual formation for 6th -12th graders. It uses Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, outreach ministries and both serious and playful activities to underscores its core principles:

1) Manhood and womanhood are free gifts from God.

2) Adulthood must be earned.

It takes six years to implement J2A completely; Calvary is beginning year 3.

There are three two-year segments of the program:

Rite-13: The first two years focus on celebrating the individuality of each young person and their creative potential. The Rite-13 liturgy is the community expression of this.

J2A: The middle portion of the program engages youth with the skills and critical thinking involved in adulthood. The youth plan and embark on a pilgrimage together at the end of this segment.

YAC: A mentor-based program helping older teens (10th-12th graders) to discern and carry out a ministry within their church or in the larger community. Vocation and development of a personal credo also are emphasized.
