During the years that Calvary has offered a noonday Thursday
Healing Service, an accompanying meal also has been served in
the Mural Room. Although attendance at the Healing Service
has dwindled to only the worship leaders and occasionally a
few others, the lunch has become an oasis for many downtown
workers, and attendance has grown.
Because Calvary now offers Prayers for Healing on Sunday
mornings prior to the last worship service and because many
other churches and hospitals are offering their own healing
services, we will no longer be offering a healing service on
Thursdays. The lunch, however, will continue to be served
each Thursday from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. and has been renamed
Downtown Table Fellowship.
The need for people to escape the hectic pace of downtown’s work atmosphere is great and those who attend the Thursday lunches are grateful for the opportunity for quiet fellowship and a delicious yet inexpensive meal. The $8 lunch includes a hot entrée, soup, expansive salad bar, dessert, and beverages. View this week's menu.
The Mural Room provides a dining atmosphere perfect for catching up with colleagues and friends, while the adjoining Gospel Rooms provide spaces for small group studies and meetings. The lay-led women’s bible study continues to discuss the upcoming Gospel and lectionary readings each Thursday in the Luke Room and is open to new participation.
There are two other Gospel Rooms available for bible or book studies or meetings. If you have an interest in starting another study group, please contact George Yandell or Ebet Peeples.
