YAM: Young Adult Ministries
The YAMs are a community of seekers within Calvary Episcopal Church, who are 20-35 years of age, without children. The YAMs strive to have inquiring and discerning hearts. We believe in questions more than answers, pilgrimage as a spiritual practice and engagement as a way of life. Come worship with us or participate in a pub theology discussion!
Sunday
Pub Theology: Following the 11:15 a.m. service, on Sunday, November 16, YAMs will meet for Pub Theology in the downstairs room at the Bardog Tavern (note the new location!) at 73 Monroe Avenue. Professor Patrick Gray from the Department of Religious Studies at Rhodes College will lead a discussion on "The End of the World as We Know It." Come discuss the results of Election Day with other young adults.
Here the group is discussing Stress with the Rev. George Yandell. From serious to lighthearted, the group tackles the topics.
Community Service:
The YAMs participate in a variety of outreach projects from mission trips to Mississippi or Honduras, to tutoring in the Memphis City Schools, to ministry with the homeless. Here a couple of the young adults are helping to prepare soup to sell on Soup Sunday to raise money for hunger ministries throughout Memphis.
Retreats, Canoe Trips and Parties: We make time for special events and parties several times a year, like the Lenten retreat, the August canoe trip on the Spring River and the Christmas Party.
