Parish Life: Fellowship

We are a community that cares for one another. Our inreach ministries support and enrich the lives of all our members, young and old, nurturing life-long relationships that bind us together as one body in Christ.

Help with Healing: Working together, clergy and committed lay people identify and respond to the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the congregation through six Pastoral Care Ministry programs:

  • Care Teams

  • Emmaus Ministry

  • Eucharistic Visitors

  • Grief Support Group

  • Knitting Ministry

  • Daughters of the King

Care teams are at the heart of this work, volunteers who provide listening and hands-on support for parishioners in need of pastoral care. Through Emmaus, our newest care ministry, trained volunteers are available upon request to the dying and their families. Grief support and knitting ministry are themselves in transition, and require reassessment as to how they can best meet parish needs.

Expanding Minds: Fully embracing the metaphor of spiritual journey, Calvary members have long enjoyed a robust menu of Christian Education classes. A lay-led education committee works closely with clergy to offer the parish a number of ways to grow in faith. A range of intellectually challenging opportunities for adult learning—from Bible study and topical discussion groups to scholarly presentations—takes place each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening during Koinonia.

Christian education for children and youth is equally important to our parish, especially given the influx of families with young children. Programs include:

  • Children’s Chapel (age 3 – 1st grade)

  • Godly Play (age 4 – 1st grade)

  • Children’s Choir

  • Youth Sunday School

  • Special Events such as the Halloween Event and St. Nicholas Festival

Sharing Lives: Calvary’s Parish Life Ministry Group coordinates activities throughout the year to help promote fellowship among our members and to strengthen the bonds of our parish family. These ministries offer manifold ways for individuals to share their talents and gifts, often in small-group settings that foster close relationships.

      Thriving parish life opportunities include:

      • GLEE (Gay and Lesbian Everyday Episcopalians)

      • Foyers dinner fellowship groups

      • Guild of the Christ Child

      • Young Adult Ministries (YAMs)

      • Parish Picnic

      • Parish Retreat
