Central to our life as a community is our corporate worship—an expression of our common thanksgiving and praise to God. Sunday services and weekday services at Calvary combine the best of our Episcopal tradition and joyful celebration. Worship, whether corporate or personal, ornate or simple, reminds us that we can experience God in many different ways.
Music plays an important role in worship. The beauty, innovation, and tradition of Calvary's music program encourages the participation of both children and adults, and is enriched by the magnificent Aeolian-Skinner organ.
Summer: 7:45 & 10:00 a.m. services (May 25, 2008-August 17, 2008)
Regular: 7:45, 9:00, & 11:15 a.m. services (August 26, 2007-May 18, 2008)
7:30 a.m. Community Breakfast Blessing
Year-round, Calvary volunteers prepare and serve a hot breakfast to approximately 150 homeless persons in our community. A member of our Clergy team leads everyone in prayer before the breakfast.
7:45 a.m. Holy Eucharist & Homily, Rite I
This service features the more traditional "Elizabethan" language of The Book of Common Prayer to create a quiet and intimate service. Parishioner John Palmer provides thoughtful, reflective music on both piano and organ, and often leads the congregation in a closing hymn. This service ends before 8:30 a.m. and many of the early morning worshipers gather for the parish breakfast which follows in the Mural Room.
9:50 a.m. Prayers for Healing
For those desiring prayer in response to their own or someone else's need for healing (physical, spiritual, or personal), the laying-on-of-hands for healing is offered at the altar rail on Sunday mornings prior to the 11:15 a.m. service.
10:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist & Sermon, Rite II (Children's Chapel)
During the summer months, this service combines the congregations from the 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. services. During the Hymn of the Day, children age 3 through 1st grade are invited to follow the cross from the church to Room 203 for Children's Chapel, a special version of the Liturgy of the Word. Children are escorted back into church in time to join their families for the passing of the Peace and Holy Communion. The Summer Choir leads the music for this service with occasional help from the Calvary Ringers handbell choir.
8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Church Open for Prayer
The Second Street doors are open Monday through Friday so that people may walk the Stations of the Cross, offer their personal prayers, or sit and be quiet for a moment in the pews.
Morning Prayer, a service which traces its origins to early monastic communities, is read by lay readers weekdays in the church. The service includes Scripture readings and Psalms and an opportunity to offer one's personal prayers.
6:15 p.m. Wednesday Evening Worship
Integral to Koinonia, Calvary's Wednesday evening program of fellowship and education, is the brief worship service that is held in the Chancel. The service incorporates lighting candles, singing chants and hymns, and reading Scripture and Psalms.
More detailed information about this week’s worship schedule can be found on the church calendar.

This service appeals to a widely varied congregation, from young adults to octogenarians. After the service, worshipers gather in the Great Hall for coffee, tea, and conversation.
